The BART Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is proud to announce that we received a rating of Pass, the highest rating available, in our first external peer review.

The independent review assessed the OIG’s conformance with Government Auditing Standards for the period July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2026. The review examined our policies and procedures, internal monitoring, audit engagements and working papers, independence and staff development documentation, and interviews with OIG staff, management, and the Audit Committee Chair.

The peer review team concluded that the OIG’s internal quality management system was adequately designed and operating effectively to provide reasonable assurance that our audit work complies with Government Auditing Standards and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

This important milestone provides independent assurance regarding the professional standards and quality controls underlying our work. It also reflects our team’s continued commitment to producing independent, objective, and evidence-based audits for the BART Board, riders, employees, and the public.
